A few minute bagmarks deter this cataloger from calling this coin fully Choice but the lustre and the color are certainly of those of the higher grade. Just a few light tics from a higher grade. 1893 1911 Gem Matte Proof GEM MTE PF $65,000.00 Devices boast essentially medallic clarity of detail and perfection of strike. The flawless fields are wonderfully smooth and glory in faintly green-gold matte lustre of the most remarkable beauty. One of 95 Proofs struck, the smallest mintage for any Gold denomination of this year. Although this coin has not seen any circulation, the surfaces are a trifle glossy from a past light cleaning. 1895 1911 AU $300.00 About Uncirculated. A second. Greenish-gold toning over well struck surfaces. A well balanced example of this popular type coin. 1896 1911 EF $250.00 Extremely Fine. A third. Light wear gives a fascinating matte look to this coin's generally bold devices. 1897 1911'D' Brilliant Uncirculated BU $7,000.00 Here is a sharply impressed example of the lowest mintage date in the series, with 30,100 struck, rated High R-7 in Akers' research. Deep red-gold cartwheel lustre shows a flavor of the desirable orange-peel texture that distinguishes many gold coins of the early 20th century. A distinguished coin in quality and in its pedigree. Very scarce, as are the $2.50 and $5.00 of this date. 1898 1912 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $625.00 A vibrant coin that is steeped in frosty mint lustre and approaching the Choice designation. 1899 1913 Superb Gem Matte Proof SUP GEM MTE PF $75,000.00 Fabulous mustard-green surfaces that are nearly perfect. The strike is decent although it is a little weak in the curls above the ear. The matte finish is totally unbroken with no ''bald spots'' that are sometimes seen on this type of Proof. Only 71 Proofs were struck, and it is doubtful that many survivors could be as remarkably well preserved as this example. Boldly struck with decent eye appeal. 1901 1916'S' AU $1,500.00 Strong About Uncirculated. Beautiful orange peel lustre boosts the visual quality of both sides of this boldly struck San Francisco coin, long regarded as one of the keys to this short-lived series. 1902 1926 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $2,800.00 Attractive yellow-gold toning with some coppery-red highlights. The surfaces are pleasing and are above average for the grade. NGC MS64. 1903 1932 Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated VERY CH BU $2,000.00 Frosty surfaces that are highlighted by coppery-red toning. Pleasing champagne surfaces adorn this well detailed Eagle. 1907 1932 Brilliant Uncirculated BU $280.00 - from a technical standpoint. A fifth. However a long ago gentle cleaning is evident.
