 1862 Gem Brilliant Proof. Here is a literal Gem of the Liberty Seated type. Both obverse and reverse are uniformly toned in pale gray and light rose with a tantalizing touch of iridescent blue. The fields are deeply mirrored and fully reflective under their colorful toning and all devices are nicely frosted. The piece offers meticulous strike combined with outstanding eye appeal. Only 550 Proofs were struck of this Civil War date.
