Medieval Coin Jewelry. French Silver Gros Tournois of Charles IV, 1322-1328 set in a 14k Gold Bezel. One of the most important coins in 14th Century commerce, the Gros Tournois is so named for the castle turret emblazoned on its reverse center, with an outer frame of fleur-de-lys. On the obverse, two concentric circles of legend frame a cross at the center. The coin grades Very Fine with weakness and slight porosity in the peripheries. The bezel is composed of a ball-braid frame with four frame clasps and a three-ring and ball mount with a three-leafed loop (stamped 14k). (Est. $100-$150)
