1794 S.21 (R-3). Flat Pole, Long Stems. Extremely Fine-45 with bold claims to About Uncirculated. A magnificent strike is seen in the crisply defined detail of head, leaves and legends. The obverse is a wisp off-center with a tiny dropped lamination under 'TY'. The reverse is strongly struck, protected by a very high rim. The tiny fraction with its curved bar is remarkably clear in testimony to the boldness of the strike. Splendid reddish-brown surfaces are wonderfully glossy and the edge inscription is pleasingly forceful. Well inside the CQR and Breen-Borckardt Condition Census and a Type coin of outstanding merit.
Ex Stack's March 1979 Sale, lot 1848.
