17 1793 Chain. Sheldon 3 (R-3) EF-45 $22,000.00
1793 Chain. Sheldon 3 (R-3). Extremely Fine-45. Here is a glorious example of our nation's first Cent....
Extremely Fine-45. Here is a glorious example of our nation's first Cent. A wealth of detail remains, all the way down to the fine individual strands of Liberty's hair. Magnification reveals some light granularity, but the surfaces appear smooth and hard to the naked eye. Careful scrutiny reveals clues of some subtle field enhancement in the past. The overall look of the coin is far...  more
18 1793 Chain. S.3 (R-3) VF-20 $5,000.00
1793 Chain. S.3 (R-3). Very Fine-20 details. The obverse appears relatively smooth to the naked eye,...
Very Fine-20 details. The obverse appears relatively smooth to the naked eye, but the color is a bit splotchy. An area of roughness at 'LIB' appears to have been present on the planchet prior to striking. The reverse is chocolate brown in color but does show pockets of verdigris. Despite the mentioned short-comings this is a presentable example of America's first Cent.
19 1793 Chain. S.3 (R-3). AMERICA. F-15 $11,000.00
1793 Chain. S.3 (R-3). AMERICA. Fine-15 with claims to higher grade. High 'R' in LIBERTY, close bases...
Fine-15 with claims to higher grade. High 'R' in LIBERTY, close bases on 'RT' are diagnostic for this much sought-after variety of the nation's first Large Cent date. This handsome coin's deep glossy brown fields complement light tan devices and reliefs for remarkable two-tone visual appeal. A glass reveals scattered toned-over marks in the obverse field but the overall quality of this...  more
20 1793 Chain AG-3 $850.00

Detail of About Good-3. Very rough, deep brown surfaces show the effects of long-term ground burial. There is not enough detail for an absolute variety attribution. The obverse shows Liberty's truncation, the reverse presents most of the chain and denomination but the legends cannot be deciphered.
21 1793 Wreath. S.10 (R-4). Injured Rim, Period after AMERICA. VF-30 $4,800.00
1793 Wreath. S.10 (R-4). Injured Rim, Period after AMERICA. Very Fine-30 from the standpoint of actual...
Very Fine-30 from the standpoint of actual wear, and a lower-end Condition Census example with a boldly impressed Vine and Bars edge. The sharply defined, diagnostic narrow area of the obverse border at 3:00 helps define this important variety. This example is a pleasing deep glossy brown, the reverse offering some porosity near the rim and a short toned-over rim cut at 5:00. Careful...  more

1794 S.21 (R-3). Flat Pole, Long Stems. Extremely Fine-45 with bold claims to About Uncirculated....
Extremely Fine-45 with bold claims to About Uncirculated. A magnificent strike is seen in the crisply defined detail of head, leaves and legends. The obverse is a wisp off-center with a tiny dropped lamination under 'TY'. The reverse is strongly struck, protected by a very high rim. The tiny fraction with its curved bar is remarkably clear in testimony to the boldness of the strike....  more

1796 S.83 (High R-5). Wide Date, Leaf Tip to F. Very Fine-20 or virtually so. This die state shows...
Very Fine-20 or virtually so. This die state shows a fine line joining the pole tip to the bust. Major details are bold and wear is generally trouble-free. Pleasing light and glossy reddish-brown covers both sides.
25 1799 S.189 VG-8 $4,500.00

Very Good-8 details. This dark brown example has porous surfaces. All reverse motifs and legends are plainly visible. LIBERTY is missing from the obverse but the bust and the all important date are quite clear.
