1827 JR-7. Ugly 8. Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated, with respectable claims to the Gem category. A bold die chip on the right side of the '8', at the juncture of the loops, gives this die state its distinctive nickname. A vivid strike, smooth silver surfaces and a touch of tawny gold toning make this coin a visual standout. Early United States Dimes cites the Choice Brilliant Uncirculated in Stack's Spring Sale of April 1978 as the finest known.
