1864'S' WB.101. Large Mintmark. Gem Brilliant Uncirculated or finer. Booming mint lustre greets the eye at first glance, and exceptional surfaces confirm the quality. Toned with a ring of dark russet and green iridescence near the rim on the obverse and reverse. The strike is sharp on Liberty's head and stars, even the eagle's talons are fully brought up by the dies. The surfaces are immaculate and show scarcely any disturbances. Housed in an older NGC holder, and boasting quality seldom seen on any date of this series. Well up in the Condition Census for the date, and a coin worthy of the finest collection. NGC MS66.
Ex Bowers and Merena's Sale, January 1999, lot 142; Douglas Noblet Collection.
