1867 Blundered Date. Br.5478. Choice About Uncirculated and bordering on full Mint State. On this variety the date is punched over a smaller downward slanting date which Breen suggests is the Half Dollar logotype. It was at one time believed that this variety was only found on Proof coinage but several circulation strikes, such as the present example, have come to light in more recent times. This particular example is bright silver and displays some light field lines that are most evident on the obverse. The coin is well struck and there is some protected lustre remaining. A scarce and interesting variety.
