Machin's Mills (Atlee) Halfpence. 1787 Vlack 21-II-87D-II (R-4). Fine. A decent coin whose dark brown surfaces are microscopically porous on both sides, as might be expected of a Machin's Mills halfpenny!; 1774 Vlack 8-74A (R-4). Good. Clay-brown, pitted and porous. Planchet warped from an edge ding. Not pretty, but a representative of the variety; 1778 Vlack 11-78A (R-3). Very Good to Fine. Golden brown and quite porous in the fields. Date is weak but visible. Planchet slightly wavy; 1787 Vlack 17-87A. Fine/Poor. Dark brown, bent and bruised. Reverse mostly scratched away, with a faint '1771' scratched into the center. 4 pieces.
