(1837-1842) Bechtler Dollar. K.4, Stack 1 (R-4). Reversed 'N.' About Uncirculated. This obverse shows * BECHTLER RUTHERF: around a centered 28:G:. The highly distinctive reverse is inscribed CAROLINA DOLLAR around ONE with the 'N' backwards. Struck under ''Alt Christoph'' Bechtler, this coin boasts partial lustre and an absolute minimum of wear and marks of any kind. Here is a wholly pleasing specimen of the Bechtler Family coinage struck at Rutherfordton, North Carolina during the Southern Gold Rush that preceded that of California by decades.
