1787 Fugio Cent. Newman 6-W.1 (R-5). Fine Rays. STATES UNITED. 158.3 gns. Extremely Fine. Glossy, ruddy brown fields surround legends and devices that are worn to a pleasing, olive-brown hue. Two large, mint made planchet voids are noted through sunface and through the letters 'MIND' and 'BUS'. This specimen is most interesting for its die states, which is much later than usually encountered. The die crack/break at the lower obverse has grown to nearly obliterate the letter 'U' of YOUR and the 'S' beneath it, while the die cracks at lower left reverse have also expanded in scope and size. Overall, a very attractive and interesting coin destined for the collection of a Fugio Cent specialist.
