 1793 Sheldon 3. Chain AMERICA. No Periods after date, LIBERTY. Fine-15 in terms of actual detail. Surfaces are a very deep chestnut brown, verging on ebony depending on the angle of the light. Fields are uniformly very granular, which has somewhat weakened the legends and date. The obverse effigy of Liberty and the all important chain on the reverse are fortunately very boldly defined. A rather large edge bruise at 10:30 on the reverse serves to hallmark this product of our nation's first federal mint.
