In fact, we are quite tempted to call this lovely coin Superb. This premium quality example features a blissful blend of champagne, jade-blue, and olive-golden iridescence on either side. The underlying surface quality, furthermore, is far and away finer than could reasonably be expected from a Proof Morgan Dollar of any date. Very rare and of the utmost importance to Morgan Dollar collectors. With the existence of business strikes unconfirmed (mint records indicate that 12,000 were struck although none have ever been reported), collectors must acquire an example of this date from the surviving population of Proofs.

Only 880 Proofs were coined, of which perhaps 60% to 70% have managed to survive in all grades. From this surviving population, certainly no more than 5% could match the quality of the specimen offered here. We encourage prospective bidders to seriously consider the presently offered coin, as finding a superior example would prove to be a formidable task.
