Wonderfully sharp central definition for this date, with all the curls present on Liberty and the feathers on the eagle's breast and wings. Toned with antique russet and gray with blue accents near the rims. Trivial handling marks from brief circulation and another extraordinary coin for the specialist who demands eye appeal and quality. There are just two or three examples of this date which are considered Uncirculated, and scarcely a handful which rate an About Uncirculated grade. For the numismatist, the present coin represents an opportunity to secure this elusive date in a condition which is virtually unobtainable. Identifiable by a tiny nick within the loop of the '2' in the date. Although no pedigree information was included, we suspect that the present coin was off the market for well over three to five decades and may have been purchased privately.
