 1897 Very Choice Brilliant Proof, virtually of Gem quality. An entirely honest and original borderline Gem which boasts alluring and colorful toning throughout. The fields are hazy gray at first glance, but when examined under a light, come alive with a rainbow barrage of colors which favor the red, yellow and green mixed by the palette of time. Ample frost on Liberty's head and the eagle, as most of the 731 Proofs issued show Cameo or deeper contrast. Trace hairlines from a higher grade, and highly appealing in every regard.
