1896 Very Choice Brilliant Proof, with desirable Cameo contrast. Another delight to examine, with antique coppery-gold and blue peripheral toning from decades in an album or coin board, with the centers bright silver. Dramatically thick frost on the devices and lettering which contrasts with the surrounding mirror fields. The surfaces are pleasing and withstand scrutiny although faint hairlines are present when tilted under a light. Identifiable by a minute field planchet flake located in the notch above Liberty's cap and head. Proof mintages drifted down to 762 pieces for the year. An excellent selection for the Cameo contrast.
