Wright's Defiant Eagle is inscribed 887 THOUS, edges are reeded on this final ''Slug'' struck by the U.S. Assayer. The reverse is the standard Humbert engine-turned ''target.'' Wear is evident on the reliefs and both sides show the scattered marks in the soft metal that are so frequently encountered on these massive gold pieces.
