1876 W-B 106 (R-8). Repunched Date. Fine in strict terms of wear, showing graffiti in the fields with traces of corrosion. The first impression of the date is very low and from a different gang punch, the definitive digits are the proper Half Dollar logotype and about half a number higher. Wiley and Bugert knew of only one example when they published The Complete Guide to Liberty Seated Half Dollars in 1993. Although this coin has seen its share of adventures, this variety is one of the rarest known to the rapidly expanding Liberty Seated Collecting field.
