1856 Snow 3. Choice About Uncirculated. Frosty, lustrous surfaces are a light straw gold hue, with coppery tones edging the devices and legends on both sides. Strike is average to above average for the issue, with sharp rims and a perfectly squared edge. This coin saw brief circulation, with subtle wear accruing to the high points and some minor spotting developing in the right obverse field. It is felt that the Snow 3 die variety made up the bulk of those 1856 Flying Eagle Cents that were distributed to Congressmen in an effort to familiarize them with the new Copper-Nickel composition as the coinage bill including this new alloy was up for a vote. As such, the Snow 3 is always in great demand, the present specimen offering a choice opportunity to acquire a lightly circulated coin that may have jingled in an 1850's era Congressman's pocket!
