 1892 Gem Brilliant Proof, or essentially so. The toning is a bit deep, however, the underlying surface quality far exceeds the norm for this first year of issue. Toned with gorgeous deep teal and russet-gray in the fields, with the satiny and frosted devices subtly contrasted. Coinage for 1892 saw increased demand for the first year of the new design, with a total of 1,245 struck in Proof. An exceptional example from this historic collection.
