1797 B.3, BB.71. 10x6 Stars. A solid Extremely Fine and approaching About Uncirculated. Softly struck but retaining considerable lustre, and there is graffiti in the right obverse field in the form of some short, shallow scratches. Toned with attractive russet gold with aqua near the rim on both sides. The planchet shows some streaky elements from improperly mixed bullion and the primitive rollers used to form the planchets. A popular type coin which has become considerably more expensive in the past several years, reflecting the limited number available and the need to complete type and date collections.
Ex lot 591 of a Mayflower auction of unknown date.
