An exceptional early Proof coin that shows rich mint color on either side. The obverse field has slightly faded to a subtle iridescent jade surrounding Liberty. The reverse retains full glowing mint red color. Well frosted on Liberty's bust with there being no significant specks or spots that detract from the surfaces. A later die state for the Proofs, this is Breen's state IV with the light die crack through the second to seventh stars. There is no trace of the later die clashing seen on business strikes. Breen estimates that 50 Proofs were coined in 1833, an unusually large number for the period, but that ostensibly gives more collectors a chance to obtain an example. Very rare and highly collectible.
