 1862 Very Choice Brilliant Proof. This gunmetal gray example has lovely rose and neon blue overtones. The strike is quite bold as one would expect from a proof coin. The fields are icy smooth and add a lovely contrast to the somewhat frosty devices. A tougher coin to locate with a mere 550 minted and many melted in 1863 as unsold. A majestic coin from the Civil War era. NGC PF64.
