1824/2 JR.1 (R-3). Very Choice Brilliant Uncirculated. On the cusp of a full Gem grade. Light greenish-gold with flecks of blue near the rims, with abundant lustre in the fields. The strike shows minor central weakness on Liberty's curls and the neck and claws of the eagle. Probably within the top 20 known of this date, and most of those would be the equal of the present coin. The obverse die was leftover and not used in 1822, then overdated and pressed into coinage for this 1824 issue.
