 1871 Choice Brilliant Proof, and very near Gem quality. This piece is pale gold around the obverse rim, brighter white and frosty in the center. The reverse is a nice very pale golden brown around the rim with a bright frosty white center. The fields are deep mirrors with full flash showing. Some speckles on the obverse are all that keep this from Gem status. Only 960 Proofs were struck.
