Splendidly lustrous fields are nearly mark-free. The obverse is without die clash, and examination under a glass finds light horizontal adjustment marks on Liberty's face. This delightful coin shows a sharper strike than the Bass sylloge plate and is without the doubling noted on that coin. This conservatively graded piece must rank among the finest known of this variety in terms of striking quality and overall visual appeal. Its condition places it among the highest grades appearing in the Dannreuther-Garrett 10-year auction listing.

From the Lawrence C. Licht Collection.
