Smooth, deep gold surfaces show a few light lines, minimal actual wear. Generally regarded as an overdate with a small '180' and a much larger '9' over remnants of a really uncertain underlying digit. Breen 1-A is the only die variety for this date. Here is a rare coin and a beautiful example of the type.

From the Lawrence C. Licht Collection.
