1¢ 1912 Gem Matte Proof. Smooth and quite imposing in light of the difficulty normally encountered when attempting to acquire high quality examples of this type. The obverse is remarkably red for a Matte Proof Lincoln Cent, there being only traces of delicate fading at the upper periphery. The reverse exhibits a very well balanced blend of medium brown patina and faded mint color. Both the Cent and Nickel of this issue offer a Proof mintage of 2,145 pieces.
