1870'S' Choice About Uncirculated, virtually Mint State. The reverse of this coin is unequivocally Uncirculated, but the obverse, as is usual on Double Eagles, seems to have taken the brunt of bag storage and appears to be ever so slightly worn. Lustre is prooflike on the obverse, and beautifully frosted on the reverse of this rich orange-gold and rose specimen. Some very faint hairlines are noted on this scarce issue.
Ex Stack's Auction, June 1984, lot 946.
