1799 Tar.18, Br.3-B (R-6). Star 9 touches Y. Brilliant Uncirculated or virtually so. Substantial gleaming lustre and pleasing reflectivity enhance a strong strike. Careful search under a glass will discover a hairline or two of little visual significance. This obverse shows star 8 touching the upper right serif of the 'Y'. The die state is defined by a bold diagnostic die crack connecting the back of the cap to star 8, another linking the tops of 'RTY' of LIBERTY. The splendid Heraldic Eagle reverse is protected by an unusually high rim and is beautifully centered for added visual appeal. Here is a top-flight example in terms of grade and overall visual quality.
