This is the only obverse of this scarce date displaying this particularly well-balanced star arrangement. This coin represents a very early die state with only a short crack from cap toward 'E' of LIBERTY and no reverse cracks. Strike is bold and full, yellow-gold fields are smooth with only a suggestion of unobtrusive hairlines recalling a short and untroubled circulating life. Here is a thoroughly satisfying example of a highly elusive date sought after by advanced as well as general collectors.
