This specimen of the first date of Closed Collar coinage boasts magnificently prooflike fields and finely frosted devices for wholly extraordinary visual quality. A few hairlines can be located with a glass. One of 3,403 struck, lowest mintage of this six-year major type and undoubtedly one of the finest examples still in existence after 173 years. This coin's spectacular reflectivity must be savored by any serious collector of U.S. Gold seeking the finest among the early dates and types. Indeed, it is hard to imagine a finer coin in terms rarity, condition and visual impact.
