Card 4½x35/8 inches; accompanying envelope approx. 4¾x32/3 inches. In a fluid, but somewhat choppy hand, Kalakaua writes in ink: Sir. I would like if you could send me your Masonic Diploma pocket Book for a while to show my people as we are now in search of mine. I will return it. Kalakaua. The 'S' of 'Send' is thick with ink from a flub and the 'm' of 'mine' has been corrected by the writer. Kalakaua's embossed gold seal is at the upper left: A crowned blue Order band with the Hawaiian motto encircling the royal monogram (two K's confronted, an I between). The envelope, which bears Kalakaua's embossed gold seal on the flap, is addressed in two lines to Hon. W.C. Parke/Marshall. On the upper left side of the back is the embossed name of the stationer: A.L BANCROFT & Co. 721 MARKET ST. SAN FRANCISCO. The notecard crisp and well-preserved, clean save for 'Hawaii' and a number lightly pencilled on the backside. Normal creasing on the flap of the envelope which is also well-preserved.
