B.1010, C.4, A.2. Very Fine or finer. Eagle somewhat similar to preceding, incuse legend MEMORABLE FRA MARCH THE FOURTH 1789. Yellow Brass, glorious detail, shank appears original and undamaged.

Consignor's note ''worn... at his first inauguration in 1789... Azariah Gladden, father of Washington Gladden.'' The younger Gladden (1836-1918) was a prominent liberal Congregational minister, proponent of the social Gospel and a pioneer ecumenist.
