State Department (Leutze) Life Saving Medal, 1860. Copper bronzed, 67mm. By Salathiel Ellis. LS-1. Choice About Uncirculated. Obv. Drop wing eagle, 3 stars on shield. Rev. Sea shore rescue of nearly drowned sailor. Deep mahogany red, one or two freckles can be found.
