B. Franklin Americain Medallion, 1777. Bronze cast uniface, 108.2mm. Fuld FR.ME.L.3 var. Extremely Fine or better in strict terms of wear and handling. Deep reddish-brown with one or two darker areas at the rim. Cast at an unknown date from a mold taken from the Nini fur hat medal like that offered above in Terra Cotta. This Bronze example bears the fictitious Arms and date 1777 but omits the name NINI. It is framed by a finely serpent-scaled inner border, outer acanthus border of considerable beauty. The casting is somewhat porous, with a trace of weakness at the ear and cap above. The back shows an intriguing spiral-ray effect and some porosity.

Ex Kessler-Spangenberger Collection (NASCA, April 1981, lot 1836).

Lot # 2262 Session 2
