May 10, 1775. $20. Blue paper Counterfeit Detector Note.  The designs as used on the issued notes....May 10, 1775. $20. Blue paper Counterfeit Detector Note. The designs as used on the issued notes. A superb vignette with a face creating a strong wind across the waves, legend VI CONCINATE (Driven by force). The back has a thematic rendition also with a blazing sun over ships on a calm sea, legend CESSANTE VENTO CONQUIESCEMUS (When the storm dies down we will rest). The issued notes printed on Marbled Edged Paper, obtained by Benjamin Franklin for use by the Continental Congress. A rare detector note and the first we have handled. Penned in the signature block 'to detect Counterfeits'. Crisp Uncirculated. Well printed and margined on both sides. There are some scattered pinholes and hints of foxing.
