May 10, 1775. $20. No.7121. Signed by J.(ohn) M.(axwell) Nesbit(t) and the other is too faint to read. A superb vignette with a face creating a strong wind across the waves, legend VI CONCINATE (Driven by force). The back has a thematic rendition also with a blazing sun over ships on a calm sea, legend CESSANTE VENTO CONQUIESCEMUS (When the storm dies down we will rest). Printed on Marbled Edged Paper, obtained by Benjamin Franklin for use by the Continental Congress. A third lovely example, with bold multi-color at the left. Very Fine or so. A few folds and a little soft. There are two tears. One is sealed on the bottom border through the signatures and a tiny one at the right. A pinhole at the upper left. Trimmed along the bottom with some visible foxing around the serial number, on the verso across 'CONTINENTAL' and next to the back vignette. Not split in half and with much eye appeal.
