Province of Pennsylvania. May 20, 1758. One Shilling. No.438(?). Plate A. Signed by [faint signature], John Rhea, and Jos.(eph) Saunders. Printed on thinner, fragile paper. Standard size and designs. Uniface, printed in black by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall, without an imprint. A rare denomination, not priced in Newman. A similar note in the Affleck-Ball sale (1975) was estimated at $100! Fair, much split on the quarter folds with voids. The back has cloth strip repairs. A tough note, as one might wait for an upgrade for a long time; Same Series. Half-A-Crown. No.2580. Plate B. Signed by Luke Morris, J.(ames) Wharton, and [very faint signature]. Printed on thin, fragile paper. Standard size and designs. Horizontal orientation as previous Half Crown and Crown notes. Uniface, printed in black by Benjamin Franklin and David Hall, without an imprint. Also a rare denomination, not priced in Newman. Overall, Good. Would be a fine to very fine note, but a chunk torn off the top left edge and some face foxing. The note is backed onto a white card. Much more than a filler due to rarity. 2 pieces.
