New Jersey. June 14, 1757. Three Pounds. No.165. Plate B. Signed by S.(amuel) Nevill (blurred), H.(ugh) Hartshorne and S.(amuel) Smith. Printed on slightly thick paper, standard designs with face and back in black, by James Parker. This denomination comes as ''A'' and ''B'' plate positions with only 500 notes reported as being printed. Obviously, a very rare note from this rare series. This type not in the DuPont Collection, and likely to be one of the few ever offered for sale anywhere in recent times. The only other example we have handled was the Ford-Boyd note as lot 699 in the Ford III Sale in May, 2004. About Uncirculated, due to a vertical bend. The lower right corner weakly printed and the lower left corner has a odd cut clip. Still, an important note. The Ford III Sale note had a mounting strip on the back. This is superior in many regards to that note.
