Province of Georgia. 1766. One Pound Sterling. No.83. Signed by N.(oble) Jones, Grey Elliott, A.(lexander) Wylly, John Smith and William Ewen. Hand dated 'Eighth' of 'August' at the bottom. Printed on laid paper in black with red text inserts. 123mm by 115mm. Special act certificate 'for the encouragement of SETTLERS, and rebuilding the COURT-HOUSE in Savannah, ...' Typeset work with ornate border frame, wide at the top and bottom, and widest indent at the left. Woodblock cut vignette of the Savannah Court-House at the lower right. Much of the text is inserted (using a separate plate) in red including from the top line 'This Certificate of ONE POUND STERLING', 'Georgia', 'SETTLERS', 'COURT-HOUSE in Savannah', and the worded dates at the bottom of the text.
The note is fully signed and issued, making it quite rare. At first glance, this note has the appearance of Very Fine or better. Split vertically and at the right horizontal fold. Backed with paper tape along these lines with a small piece out of 'Seventy' in red at the right. The color is strong and the rest of the note is very crisp. Much tougher to find than the one signature remainder notes encountered on this special act.
