Government of the Counties of New Castle, Kent and Sussex upon Delaware. February 28, 1746. Five Shillings. No.9(?)20. Signed by Jno. Clowes (unclear) and Hugh Durborrow (?). Printed on thin paper by B.(enjamin) Franklin. Square seal with motto engraved by Thomas Leech. The back with nature print, sea serpent motif and Franklin imprint. Good, split horizontally and sewn with thread. Backed on period paper, then on a thin white card, partially torn; Same Series. Fifteen Shillings. No.4190?. Signed by Hugh Durborrow, Jno. Clowes, and Wm. Armstrong. Printed on thin paper by B.(enjamin) Franklin. Square seal with motto engraved by Thomas Leech. Three crowns security device. The back with nature print, horse and sage leaf motif with Franklin imprint. Good or so, split, trimmed quite a bit with rounded corners, and edge nicks. The signatures are bold. Not superb examples, but their condition is indicative of the necessary use of these instruments in commerce. 2 pieces.
