
Nils Collin and Old Swedes Church Medal, 1938. Silver, 31.4mm. About Uncirculated. Obv. Collin (1746-1831), sixth pastor, l. Rev. Old Swedes Church Gloria Dei at Raccoon (Swedesboro) near Philadelphia. Latin inscription on church role in Preserving the language, customs and religion of colonists. The first colonists in the Philadelphia region were Swedes in the 1640's. This medal was struck for Delaware (New Sweden) Tercentenary, whose U.S. Half Dollar depicted another Old Swedes Church at Wilmington.
