Government of the Counties of New Castle, Kent and Sussex upon Delaware. June 1, 1759. Twenty Shillings. No.23325. Signed by Wm. Armstrong, David Hall, and John Barns. Printed on thick paper by B.(enjamin) Franklin and D.(avid) Hall, their imprint on the back. Seal and motto as earlier series, the seal orientation is horizontal. Period of 'No.' over left of 'Y' in 'TWENTY'. Four crowns security device. Back lion motif at the bottom, changed from previous series. A fabulous grade note, virtually unheard of in this state of preservation. The average grade for notes of this issue is Good or so and well frayed, soiled and generally put back together.
This note, crisp as cardboard, bright, vivid and nearly exceptional. Printed from a sharp state of the plates, especially the back. Fully Extremely Fine, most will call it better. The horizontal fold is light, not showing soiling from the back. The trimming is quite acceptable if not strong. There is a patch of pink residue at the upper right border cut (paint?), but it does not affect the amazing condition of this note. At the right side there are two pinholes. The next owner will be pleased to own this Condition Census example; very few Delaware Franklin imprint notes could be finer than this.
