MAINE. F.A. Smith, 19 and 21 Silver Street. 5¢, 10¢, 25¢;, and 50¢. Portland. 'Nov. 22, 1862' Printed in green with red face numeral protectors (Roman and Arabic). Back in gold with denominations at center. Identical style with eagle at center, titles above. Wait 238, 239, 240, and Unlisted denomination; Rarity 5. The Wait rarity listing seems a bit light to us. Unissued set used as printers samples. Pen endorsement with prices on the 10¢. All with POC. All About Uncirculated to Crisp Uncirculated. A handsome and tough set. 4 pieces.
