State of North Carolina. 1778 (August 8, 1778 Act). Ten Dollars. Independence. No.48740. Signed by Machilwien and Armitage. Printed on thick paper. Typeset face with ornamental borders. Pattern back design with imprint 'Printed by James Davis, 1778'. Another classic motto type and one of three $10 types issued on this enactment. There were 16,666 notes printed of each type. A beautiful note and clearly owned by very few collectors in the past 100 plus years.
About Uncirculated. Very light quarter bending. Under scrutiny, the ''bends'' appear and disappear depending on the light. Moderately toned with a darker patch at the left and upper left corner. Exceptionally clean and crisp. The face margins are excellent and the back is centered downwards slightly. Simply, a wonderful note on the issued date and type. This might bring a Choice Uncirculated price which, for sake of argument, is hard to predict due the lack of current auction records for such high condition notes.
