State of Maryland. June 8, 1780 Act. Half a Dollar. No.669. Signed by I.[saac] McHard and J.[oseph] Cowman. Printed on thinner stock. Size similar to 1775 and 1776 notes. Typeset, ornate border cuts. Back with Maryland State Arms. Imprint 'Printed by F. Green'. A rare issue and not priced in Newman. This note is exceptional grade for any Maryland note of this era. However, this is a rare series for any note. Magnificent for the series, clearly a condition census candidate, and one of the finest we have seen.
Choice Extremely Fine. Bright and vivid. Many will call it finer, but there is enough handling seen from the back and two corner creases to assign that technical grade. Three tight margins and bowed in slightly on the lower left border cut. All this is meaningless since this is a tough note in even lesser grades. A fabulous note on Maryland.
Ex F.C.C. Boyd Estate.
