
Colony of New York. March 5, 1776. One Third of a Dollar or Two Shillings and Eight Pence. No.3921. Signed by Henry H. Kip and Peter Van Zandt. Printed on thick stock. Ornate border cuts, New York Arms at the right. Back with small circular emblem at left with three wreaths, motto HIS ORNARI AUT MORI. Imprint 'Printed by Samuel Loudon, in the Year M, DCC, LXXVI'. A premium quality note on the series and denomination.
Choice Crisp Uncirculated. Toned moderately and uniformly to an attractive light tannish hue. Well centered and margined. The corners are slightly ''dinged'' and there is a petty spot on upper right back corner from an old mount. Faint Boyd code, ''irx'', in the left back field. The 4th edition Newman catalogue value was $300.00 in Uncirculated. Prior editions priced this note only to Very Fine which is more realistic.
