1883 Liberty Head. No Cents. MS-66 (NGC). Light brown and gold toning over lustrous surfaces. A nice example of one of the great "story coins" of the 20th century. Word spread that the Mint had made a mistake by not including CENTS on the reverse, and that such pieces would soon be called in and become rare and valuable. So many were hoarded for this reason that today, more than a century later, nickels of this particular variety are the most plentiful in Mint State in the entire Liberty series. No matter, the demand for them is great, and there should be room for one in every collection.
