Shield Nickels Return to Listing 1878 Proof-65 (PCGS). A lovely Proof with attractive mint lustre on both sides, with some prooflike surfaces. As specialists know, 1878 shield nickels were made only in Proof format per Mint records, and to the extent of 2,350 pieces.
